Right of Reply

A person or authorised representative of an organisation that is materially identified in a serious accountability claim may request a reply. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity or authority and may reject impersonation, harassment, or attempts to expose private information.

Where practicable and proportionate to the circumstances, we will offer a meaningful opportunity to respond before publication. Urgent safety, legal, or public-interest factors may require a different timing; a post-publication reply remains available where appropriate.

Send the post URL, the statement you contest, the response you want considered, supporting material, and any requested redactions. Be specific, factual, and respectful. We may edit for length, privacy, clarity, safety, or legal reasons without changing the substantive meaning, and will identify material editorial changes when appropriate.

An accepted reply may appear beside or be linked from the relevant report, clearly marked as a response. It is not an endorsement or determination of truth. We may decline material that is unlawful, abusive, irrelevant, repetitive, or would create a safety risk.

A right of reply is separate from a request for removal, a privacy request, or a legal claim. You may still use the Takedown Request page or other available legal process. We may correct, update, limit, or remove the original material after review.

Submitting a reply does not create a guarantee of publication, a legal proceeding, or an obligation to disclose confidential sources or internal moderation records. We will handle personal data in replies under our Privacy Policy.

We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify identity, prevent fraud, protect other people, or comply with law. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, government identification, or other sensitive information unless we specifically request a secure method for it.
