Trivia Rules

Trivia is for individual, good-faith participation. Do not use scripts, bots, unauthorised automation, answer-sharing schemes, duplicate accounts, exploits, or other methods that interfere with fair play. T.I.N. may invalidate attempts, scores, streaks, rewards, or entries affected by suspected manipulation.

The service may apply time limits, attempt limits, eligibility checks, anti-fraud controls, and score validation. A displayed score, streak, or rank remains provisional until T.I.N. records and validates the attempt.

Trivia results are determined by the server records and rules in effect for that round. We may correct a display error, technical issue, or invalid attempt. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, exact question timing, or a particular score, rank, reward, or reputation outcome.

If a promotion or prize is offered, its eligibility, closing date, selection method, winner verification, delivery terms, and any country-specific restrictions will be shown in the promotion-specific rules. Unless those rules expressly say otherwise, trivia participation alone does not create a right to a prize.

The daily trivia is free practice. It carries no prize and does not feed the ladder — it is there to play every day and build a streak.

The ladder has three competitive rungs, each feeding the next. The Weekly Showdown runs every Sunday at 7pm WAT and is open to everyone; the top three win a prize and the top ten earn a seat in the Monthly Final. The Monthly Final runs on the last Sunday of the month at 7pm WAT and is open only to players who earned a seat; the top three win a prize and the top ten earn a seat in the Grand Final. The Grand Final runs on the second Sunday of December at 7pm WAT, is open only to players who earned a seat, and pays the top ten from the year’s largest prize pool.

Entry is always free. There is no entry fee, no paid retry, and nothing you can buy that improves your score, your position, or your chance of a seat. Boosts, subscriptions and any other paid feature have no effect whatsoever on trivia standing.

This is a competition of skill, not a game of chance. Winners are decided by the answers they give, never by a draw.

Every entrant in a round answers the same questions in the same order, fixed before the round opens. Answers are marked on our servers and are never sent to your device before you submit.

You may enter a round once. The clock starts when you open the paper, and each rung has a time limit — ten minutes for the Weekly, fifteen for the Monthly, twenty for the Grand Final. A paper submitted after your limit scores zero. A paper you never submit does not place.

Placings are decided by, in order: the higher score; then the shorter time taken, as measured by our servers. Points carried from qualifying count towards your score but are capped, so a season’s form can help a finalist without deciding the final.

If two players cannot be separated on those measures and the tie falls on a prize or qualifying place, we will hold a tiebreak round between them. We will not split a tie by drawing lots, tossing a coin, or any other method involving chance.

Standings are published after a round closes, not while it is running.

Prizes for each rung are published before the round opens and are awarded strictly by placing. A recorded placing is not a payment: every prize is held for verification, and a member of staff must confirm the winner’s identity and eligibility before anything is paid or delivered.

We may withhold or withdraw a prize where an entry breaches these Rules, where an account is duplicated or automated, or where we cannot verify the winner. Any tax or charge arising on a prize is the winner’s responsibility.

Staff, contractors, and their immediate households may play for practice but are not eligible for prizes.

These terms are versioned. Each round records the version it ran under, and a settled result is always judged against the rules that were published when it was played.

Do not use trivia to harass, spam, deceive, or collect other people’s data. We may suspend participation, remove rewards, or take account action for a breach of these Rules, the Community Guidelines, or applicable law.

Questions and explanations are provided for entertainment and general-information purposes. We may update, replace, or withdraw questions and rules where needed for accuracy, safety, fairness, or legal compliance.

We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify identity, prevent fraud, protect other people, or comply with law. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, government identification, or other sensitive information unless we specifically request a secure method for it.
